Rabat - The Moroccan government categorically denied the false information spread by some public Spanish media outlets about the deployment of Royal Armed Forces troops stationed in the Southern Provinces to Casablanca and Rabat in anticipation of alleged potential protests, said, on Sunday, Communication Minister, Government Spokesman, Khalid Naciri.
Speaking at a press briefing, Naciri said the government denounced spreading such false information as "an unprofessional act that violates journalism ethics and standards."

Propagating such unfounded allegation about Morocco is a natural continuation of some Spanish media's methods in reporting about Moroccan issues, the Minister said, recalling that these media outlets reached the height of aggressiveness, hostility, slander and truth-falsification during their coverage of Gdim Izik events in Laayoune.

This clearly shows the extent to which some Spanish media are involved in information manipulation and falsification, which practices were firmly condemned by NGO's and institutions representing national and international media and human rights organizations, Naciri underlined.

He deplored that these media outlets did not draw lessons from these condemnations and from the Moroccan parliament's call on the government to reassess its relations with Spain.

In order to express Morocco’s indignation to the Spanish government, Naciri said that foreign Minister summoned Spain's Ambassador to Rabat and called his Spanish peer as well.

Morocco’s Interior Minister also drew the attention of his Spanish peer to the grave consequences of the continuation of these repetitive media mistakes, Naciri added.
